How Realtors REALLY Help in the Buying Process

If you’re anything like me, you always wonder what EXACTLY a professional does for ME that justifies their existence…and their paycheck.

Do I really need a barber to cut my hair?  I can just grab some clippers from Amazon and watch a YouTube video.  How hard could it really be to fix my own brakes?  It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to change the battery in my watch.

You are right, you can watch YouTube and figure out how to do all those things.  And maybe you save a few bucks.  But what do you lose? Time.

In this fast-paced world, our most valuable asset is time.  We never seem to have enough of it.

“I wish I had time to watch the last season of Game of Thrones!”

“I am sooo tired right now, I really could use a nap, but I don’t have the time.”

“Sorry son, I can’t make it to your game – I have a deadline to meet and there just isn’t enough time.  I promise I will go to the next one.”

So, if you dont have the time to watch one of the BEST shows on TV, time to sleep or time to watch your son’s game – how are you going to have the time to research a neighborhood, find the best schools, then find a house, make an offer, enter escrow, complete the mountain of paperwork, all the inspections and close that transaction without the help of a professional real estate agent?

Time is what a professional offers you that justifies their existence and their paycheck.

A recent study by the National Association of Realtors listed the benefits of using a real estate agent.  The study noted, by age group, what percentage of each benefit was valuable to homebuyers.

Benefits provided by a real estate agent during the home purchase process:

  1. Helped the buyer understand the process.
  2. Pointed out unnoticed features/faults with the property.
  3. Negotiated better sales contract terms.
  4. Provided a better list of service providers (e.g. home inspector).
  5. Improved buyer’s knowledge of search areas.
  6. Negotiated a better price.
  7. Shortened buyer’s home search.
  8. Provided better list of mortgage lenders.
  9. Expanded buyer’s search area.

Could you figure all this out on your own?  ABSOLUTELY – it’s not rocket science.  But do you have the TIME?

This is what we do.  Let us help you.  Oh and by the way…when you buy a house, you don’t pay us a dime.  The seller of the house pays us.

As always,

Welcome Home
